Our History
The Civil Aviation Authority of Vanuatu was separated from the Airports Vanuatu Limited in 1988 with limited staff. Joseph KASTEN was the first Director to CAAV. After completing his term as a Director, Donald WOLOSEJES served as an Acting Director in 2011.
Joseph NIEL came in 2011 became a Director and served 2 terms from 2011 – 2019. Jackie Langati TRIEF was elected to become Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vanuatu from 2019 – 2022. Currently Graces took on the Director ship since earlier this year 2022 in April.
Vanuatu Civil Aviation Authority became a member to International Civil Aviation Organization ICAO since 1983 to promote safety, efficiency regulatory and promote environmental protection. This was done under the leadership of Late Joseph KASTEN.
